Grateful, Thankful, Blessed – Kon Kalimnios

To thee, I give thanks… I would like to take this opportunity to post my sentiments about two remarkable people I am sincerely proud to be affiliated with, employed by, and to work with on a daily basis. My name is Kon Kalimnios, and I am a proud Funeral Director, employed by Vicky and Michael Kiriazis of Acropolis Funeral Services. It’s important to do what you love, especially when it comes to your career choice and employment options. For me, I love what I do, and I am passionate about my involvement within the funeral industry, in New South Wales. From the moment I awake in the morning, in preparation to come to work, in Sydney- I’ve learned that there are no two days alike. Every day, every funeral is different. Every family has different requests, different needs- personal wishes that must be accommodated for, in an effective and efficient manner. In order to accomplish this, staff need to be well trained, organised, adaptable, and share a close knit chemistry that will allow wishes to be granted regarding our craft- in accommodating our families loved one’s funerals.

Here at Acropolis- all of these aspects are catered for, just as families want. And I couldn’t be happier to be part of the preparation and delivery of the service. I have been trained by the best in the industry. I have been moulded into the best Funeral Director imaginable. Combined with over 30 years of customer service experience, I was closely mentored, coached and taught the fundamental and necessary skills set to deliver outstanding, memorable and first class funerals on a daily basis. Combined with my acquired skills in Master Hairdressing and Make-Up, I was furthermore trained in the Mortuary to directly assist with the preparation of loved ones, prior to their viewings and farewells.

I work amongst passionate people, colleagues who like me, love what I do. A team of committed and compassionate professionals that work tirelessly to serve. I consider my position, my role to be that of a professional and serious nature. My key responsibility is to serve bereaved families- to conduct funerals for families in their darkest of hours. The backbone of this- is the delivery of outstanding customer service; tailored individually to suit every need of the family- no matter how great or small.

My job is a blessing. I work as a proud ambassador, a proud representative of my company and polished brand- built with pride by Vicky and Michael. I consider myself- to be a representative of them- when I conduct my funerals, with my team of staff. I wear the uniform with pride, and I am so grateful that I have been bestowed the honour to conduct funerals on behalf of my employers, and to apply my experience whilst working with the team in the Mortuary.

I feel successful because of the continuous faith and mentoring Vicky and Michael provide me on a daily basis. In closing- for me, success is ensuring all my families come first. Success is accommodating them, serving and supporting them. As an ambassador of the brand, success is knowing that one day, when families start to heal- and look back, reflecting about the funerals I conducted for their loved ones- remember it as the best delivery and execution of service imaginable. For me, success is knowing my families have received first class, outstanding and memorable service. That they are happy and appreciative of what I’ve delivered- the most memorable farewell imaginable. This is what makes me feel sublime, and continues to make me yearn more passion and personal and professional gratification every day. And for this, I thank Vicky and Michael for the opportunity and turning this dream to be their Funeral Director into a fruitful reality…
