The Coroner
When suspicious or inexplicable causes of death occur, or in the instance that a person passes away without any pre-existing medical condition, an investigation or enquiry must commence by law, by The New South Wales Forensic and Analytical Science Service, Department of Forensic Medicine Sydney, in Lidcombe, also known as The Coroner. Here, forensic examinations take place, including Autopsies and CT Scans, to investigate and determine the cause of death. If located out of the greater Sydney area, your loved one will be transferred to the closest department of forensic examination.
Funeral Arrangements can commence, however The Coroner will not release any loved one without a completed Coroner’s Report. Acropolis Funeral Services are advised by The Coroner, as soon as loved ones are ready to be released- in order to be transferred into our care.
Counsellors are available at The Coroner’s Court to assist families with information, support and counselling services. The Forensic Counselling Unit may be contacted Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm, telephone 85847777.
