Guinness World Records in the Funeral Industry

Since 1955, Guinness World Records has provided us with fascinating records set by millions of people across the globe. Incredible fetes and achievements accomplished before officials, in record times. Records that are broken again and again, honouring and recognising individuals and crowds alike, year after year. The astonishing world of fascinating and quirky records, brilliantly presented and published by Guinness World Records. Here are a few funeral-related world records from around the globe:

  • Did you know that Herbert Weber holds the world record of assembling the most coffins? Yes- it’s a record! Herbert is from Austria, and he assembled 707, 335 coffins- by hand from 1978-2008.
  • The Guinness World Record- for coordinating the longest cortege of hearses is held by Nuvema N.V Nederlandse Uitvaartverzekering Maatschappij, from The Netherlands. It was recorded on the 30th August 2012, and was made up of 107 hearses!
  • 10,200,000- That’s 10 million, two hundred thousand people- paid their respects, to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, of Iran, when his body lay in state in 1989. During this time, eight people were killed and over 500 people were injured, during the rush- to attend.
