International Women’s Day, 2019

The 8th March every year is celebrated globally to raise the awareness of, and to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. The United Nations Women is the entity that promotes the significance of the day and to ensure progress is developed and promoted to meet the needs of women and girls worldwide.

The United Women’s priorities include:

  • Expanding women’s leadership and participation
  • Ending violence against women by enabling states to set up the mechanisms needed to formulate and enforce appropriate laws and services
  • Enhancing women’s economic empowerment
  • Strengthening the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda
  • Making gender equality priorities central to national, local and sectoral planning and budgeting
  • Humanitarian Response and Planning

International Women’s Day was officially recognised by The United Nations in 1975, and since then, crucial adaptions have been recognised and applied regarding the betterment and overall wellbeing of women. The official colour of International Women’s day is purple, this is associated with the women’s fight for gender equality. Furthermore, it’s a worthy celebratory day that boosts morale and wellbeing. Across the world there are special events and luncheons held to celebrate and compliment those individual women who on their own, and collectively as a team, make a difference. They challenge themselves personally and professionally within society and amongst their professional work places. It’s a day where we can acknowledge and give gratitude to the women around us- to thank them for how they personally contribute. Let’s honour and acknowledge the extraordinary women in our lives.

Here at Acropolis Funeral Services, we take the opportunity today to celebrate our empowered women and to sincerely thank them for their contributions, not only on a professional level, but for their invaluable, tireless and endless personal contributions invested on a daily basis. Behind the scenes, Vicky, Georgia, Vivian and Nitsa are the backbone to the success of the business and brand. At times, our loving families don’t meet the girls, but speak to them directly regarding our funeral services. The girls in the office ensure everything is prepared in a timely and professional manner that ensures our funeral directors can effectively deliver and execute the services on the days of the funerals.

The success of our funerals is based on the meticulous attention to detail, preparation and coordination applied by the girls to ensure all requests are met for our families. Based on this, we salute our empowered workplace champions. They are the epitome of leaders within our industry. Their passion, desire to succeed and to respectfully serve shines daily. We sincerely thank you, honour you and congratulate you for doing what you do, the way you do. Our business would not turn over successful and appreciated outcomes if it wasn’t for you all, collectively, at the helm.

Congratulations, wishing you a happy International Women’s Day.
